2005 Aveo goes through periods of stalling when idling.

The Aveo (manual trans) will continually stall when unaccelerated (clutch depressed) for roughly a dozen engine off/on cycles and then run fine for a period of time, and then the whole process begins again. I know the car has emissions problems as it is throwing engine codes P0420 and P0107. Without throwing a great deal of $$ at the problem (it's a 2005 with over 200K), any chance you might be able to diagnose the problem so that it would explain the periodic stalling but otherwise great running that it seems to cycle through?
