just had two catalyc converter replaced, engine light still on, and flashing. also still feels like it's misfiring. Had a new coil, distributor, plugs and wires replaced.van is still running rough, with a flashing check engine light that goes on and off.Start to accelorate near 50, and the problems start.

The 'flashing' check engine light is an indicator that the misfire is severe enough to cause catalytic converter damage !! .. The proper scanner can monitor misfiring cylinders so a more accurate diagnosis can be made .. Complete fuel 'system' pressure testing is equally Important to determine if the fuel injection system is operating properly .. Strongly suggest having qualified personnel check this out ASAP .. Raw 'un-burned' gas from misfiring cylinder(s) entering the catalytic converters will definitely damage the catalyst inside.
I just had two converters put in, got my van back today, drove it, when I hit close to 50, engine light came on steady, then started flashing, and then went on steady again. Had to bring it back to the shop. I'm at my witts end with this thing, but I love my van, I have spent over $3000 dollars, fixing it, and the problems keep coming.
Well every now and again ALL vehicles are going to give some trouble .. The Astro van has proven to be a good vehicle and I can vouch for that! .. It has the same durable running gear as the Chevy S-10 and that's enough said! .. The 4.3L problems usually aren't that difficult to diagnose and correct but then again I've been working on em a 'very long time' .. Something just got overlooked or was improperly installed is my suspicion. Proper 'complete' scan testing along with fuel pressure testing should reveal the problem! .. That has always worked for me... Google > GM crankshaft position variation relearn. Good luck with it!
I hope your right. I really don't want to give up on it, but it's getting really expensive and the problems are the same, if not worse. another week without my van. not happy.
Now I don't want to belittle anyone here, that's not my intention at all .. However you may need to seek out another repair facility to do this repair for you, one that is simply better equipped .. just saying.
I think you might be right.
