OK > The problem will have to be duplicated at the time of testing in order to prove what is actually failing! .. When gauges "go dead" , rap on top of dash with open hand to see if they respond .. IF so, the cluster itself is the culprit. IF 'mechanic' can test with professional grade scanner while gauges are not working then the scanner can do a functional test on the cluster to determine fault... That's about your only choices, other than guessing at it!
