Turn the key *ALMOST* to the on position but do not turn it all the way to on .. that WILL release the shift lever - shift to neutral - start engine - shift to drive and go to local auto repair facility for *hands-* testing.
IF you turn the key all the way to on - then it will NOT release the shift lever!
This will work every time - IF it’s done the right way..
I have NEVER had one that would not shift out of park using the procedure I posted - and I have worked on a BUNCH of these vehicles! ....
Turning the key to the position I suggested - completely *disables* the shifter lock mechanism.
I guess you’ll have to contact a local auto repair facility and make repair arrangements ..
Give the repair shop all of the details - then the shop will probably choose to just send a *mechanic* out to pick up the vehicle.
Good luck with it!
The break lights are working and we check the switch on break pad and it looks good
