Get in car turn key on leave door open or turn on dome light look closley at light roll down pass. side window when it stops watch light dim very slightly push window switch down again see light dim? Now do the same on drivers side but try to go up with window DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT DIM? IF SO MOTOR PROBLEM. IF NOT SWITCH PROBLEM.
check the wiring that runs from the door to the inside of the car, the wires will be in a rbber boot with the door open. chances are good that you have a broken wire inside the boot ,, this is common , because this is where the wires flex , also this is the door that is used the most
I am NOT good with autos. Thank you for keeping it simple.!
IT IS EITHER A SWITCH OR A MOTOR PROBLEM!
I would agree, however, if there is no power or ground to the switch it will not work. it is a motor therefore it must have a power and ground . there are 2 wires that go to the motor one is power the other is ground. the switch is what reverses polarity to the motor, to make it go up, then the polarity reverses, then it will go down , the best way to check it is acsess the window motor , unplug the motor, connect a test light between the two wires ( on the harness side) operate the window in the down position , the test light should light , now operate the switch in the up position, the test light should light as well, if the test light lights up in both directions , it is the motor, if it doesnt then you have eithier a bad switch, or a broken wire
THATS THE REASON FOR THE TEST WITH THE DOME LIGHT. IF IT DIMS WHEN SWITCH ACTIVATED THEN IT IS SENDING POWER TO MOTOR. IF IT DOES NOT MOST LIKELY SUSPECT IS THE SWITCH. THEN AFTER THAT MAYBE A BROKEN WIRE. I HAVE FIXED A COUPLE IN 35 YEARS I KNOW HOW IT WORKS! QUESTION IS NOT FROM ME. JUST TRYING TO HELP AND KEEP IT SIMPLE.
i like the dome light idea for a simple test ,, i will have to remeber that one, but if it does not dim, then, i would want to do further diagnostics , before replacing the switch ,
I AGREE,BUT ANY FURTHER TESTING PROB. WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE BY A TECH. IN THIS CASE.
