Thanks, thats not what I wanted to hear. You say these engines today, this is a 26 year old cadillac. It sounds like you had this experience. I'm at a loss, about what to do. My mechanic was the one that
decided to clean the engine bay, not I. He doesn't know whats wrong, along with the five other mechanics
that have looked at it. Obviously, some sensor got wet, since it's been tested for fuel pressure and
spark, which it has. It starts right up but it's missing so bad, and the idle speed motor acts like its freaking out. going from 1000 rpm on up to, well you can pick it. It's all over the board, and this is the second one thats been installed. As well as it taking me unlimited calls to find a mechanic that has an obd1 scanner. Any input would be welcome. caddyman66 ps. no codes appear. when scanned.
no,i have not had that experience, nor will i have..my engine can stay dirty,it deserves to be dirty with 316,000 on 2000 F150 this week..i will wipe it down a little with a rag sometimes.i have read several horror stories here about this engine cleaning.the one that i remember more than the others is a guy was at the car wash in his Jaguar, with it running.raised the hood, sprayed the engine down, car cut off...He then asked"wonder why it won't start back"?who knows, may have cracked the block also(spraying cold water on a very hot engine! said he sprayed it down real good? good luck with yours...
