Beware of improper wheel *off-set* .. Agree - use OEM or exact equivalent size tires and wheels.
Hello, The standard original tire size on a 2000 Catera is 225-55 R16. The optional size is 235-45 R17. I would suggest using either of these two sizes of tires on either size rim (16" or 17"). This vehicle will not operate properly with 15" wheels. It is also important to note that your wheel width needs to be no more than 7 inches. If you are trying to put 16 x 8 or 16 x 8.5 wheels on this car, you may have trouble. There is nothing else you can do about "tightening the suspension"; put proper tires and wheel size on the vehicle.
