how can you get the oil change light to go out once the oil has been change

If it does not have the DIC, turn ignititon key to on but engine off, fully push and release the gas pedal slowly 3x within 5 secs., turn key off, should be reset, if not try again. With DIC hold reset button in at oil life setting in the DIC till you see XXX% and let go.
