maybe bad new alternator?maybe bad battery?maybe connections corroded.
the battery is for starting the car.then the alternator takes over.it does not charge the battery.it maintains the charge on the battery.with car off,the battery should read 12.6 volts.with car running battery voltage should be 13.5-14.5 volts.have charging system checked.
DO NOT DO THAT.DO NOT!!!!YOU CAN NOT DO THAT ON THESE NEWER COMPUTERIZED CARS NOW!!!IF IT WAS A 1975 CHEVY,YES.BUT DO NOT DO NOT DO THAT.YOU WILL HAVE A BAD YEAR IF YOU DO.DO NOT REMOVE BATTERY CABLES WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING!!!
very possible voltage spike and could/will fry some things, including the computer.most newer years vehicles are computer controlled alternators now,no voltage regulator integral to the alternator anymore.not this one but newer.
