how can I tell if I need to replace the catalytic converter

have the code/codes read at Autozone,and ask them to print the code/codes out for you,it's free.then post codes here.should not drive it with the cel blinking on/off!possible one of the three coils,wire,plug is bad,but that's only possible!post codes.
