Sir: you may google it for an explanation, on you tube, P0440 indicates an evaporative system leak, allowing fuel vapors to escape into the atmosphere, which the system is designed to prevent, cause could be a faulty fuel cap, vacuum hose off or damaged, faulty purge or cannister control solenoid, faulty fuel filler pipe, rusty fuel tank, etc., inspection & diagnosis with a vehicle specific scan tool by an experienced technician is actually usually less expensive than buying parts and trying random fixes.
