Check Engine Light: EVAP small leak code: I found a broken hose (the pcv valve elbow) and replaced the cracked elbow and pcv valve. Do I have to clear codes and let system go through entire drive cycle again or will the system clear on it's own. Of course I can't be certain the cracked hose was the cause so I would assume clearing the codes would be the sure way to test. If I clear codes then I have to perform a drive cycle of 80 miles and multiple starting cycles. This is a car we don't drive more than 100 miles a year so I'm trying to avoid doing a full drive cycle.
I understand anyone trying to save a buck these days - however a smoke vapor test is invaluable for these type failures. Furthermore a vehicle that’s only driven approximately 100 miles per year is inherently going to have more problems like this than one that is used daily.
