Any information on why the telescopic steering system would stop functioning?

What is your question?

A couple of days ago the steering wheels electronic adjustment system stopped working. Is this a usually an electronic or mechanical issue? There was no information for trouble shooting this problem in the auto manual. Could it be a fuse gone bad or something more costly?

What makes this problem better or worse?

Hello, always check any fuses, but even if one was blown, the question would be: "why"? Diagnostic testing utilizing a BMW compatible tool that can monitor operation of body module controlled components is needed.

Quite possibly a failed fuse - any number or reasons a fuse may fail - one in particular that comes to mind is add on accessories of the attempt to do so.

In any event you’ll likely need to acquire *hands-on* assistance from qualified personnel for testing.. Logically the first step here is replacement of any failed fuses !
