What is your question?
My temperature gauge all of a sudden jumped into the red and overheated causing the vehicle to automatically shut down. Coolant level was okay and fan was engaging (however, it was running extremely hard). Switched out the thermostat, but still experiencing the same issue after about a mile of driving. Anyone else experience this and have any other suggestions on what to check before replacing the water pump?

I had the same problem. It was the water pump. My mechanic tried the thermostat repair first.
Does it get hot as quickly while idling, If it doesn't you need to consider the radiator. Make sure your cooling system is completely full as well.
It does temporarily stop climbing when idling, but the temp does not get any lower while doing so. Once i start driving again, it cobtinues to climb. Once it hits 3/4, it seems to jump straight to overheated.
You are low on coolant, or the main issue would be the radiator is restricted. One more test would tell, if it's heating while driving and you turn your heater on full blast, and that also helps with the temperature, your radiator is your problem.
