My car won't crank over all the lights turn on and radio works.I tried jump cabl

headlights go dim when key is turned to the crank/start position? starter been tested for signal/voltage while key is turned to the crank/start position by testing the small wire on the starter solenoid with a volt meter while helper tries to crank it?
