I'm having trouble with my keyless remote it dosent open the doors or the trunk

Ok have heard anything like to reprogram it or something like that I would to do that first so I have a shell of a key so I couldn't change the inside out have someone to cut key I'm trying all before I pay the dealer for the remote I'm kind of On a budget here? Thanks again
