what are the 2 holes that have been found underneath my car?

Thank you pushrod for your replies. I REALLY appreciate your time! I suppose that because of the year of my 318, it would be restoration.....but....because it is still running and in great condition (I think), it FEELS more like I am repairing it. I apologize if I wasted anyone's time. I just needed to find someone with definitive answers for my questions as they seem difficult to get at times and I have been reading this site for a while =)
