The MIL is on. Can I still drive my car?

What is your question?

The light remained on after starting the car. Nothing is obviously wrong that I can hear or feel. Is ok to drive locally until I can get it looked at after the holiday weekend or do I need to keep it parked?

If the light is flashing, you wouldn't want to drive it. If the light is on steady you can drive it for the weekend and if you could drive it to an Autozone today, they can scan the computer for free to see what set off your MIL light. Reply back with the Code number(s) and someone hear could give you more informed advice.
