My son has a 2001 Audi A4, not turbo, and his oil light started flashing.

He checked level and it was low so he added oil but the light won't stop flashing and there is a chattering sound at low rpm's. Any ideas? FYI, he just replaced the coil and alternator.

Have it towed to shop and hope it's not damaged beyond reasonable repair! No way to tell without hands-on testing. Insufficient engine oil pressure!! That is the MOST likely syspect. May have been damaged before oil was added! Good luck with it.
