when you turn your key,you hear the fuel pump come on,and everything else starts up?but you have nothing when trying to start it?did you check the fuses?do you have power going to the starter?was the battery hooked up wrong, first time you put it in?
i checked the fuses today after work and they were all fine, i do have power going to the starter, and no i didnt hook the battery up wrong the first time. i was told that it could be the ignition what do you think about this being the problem?
but did you check for signal power at the starter, small wire, when you try and start it, the ignition switch sends voltage to the starter and tells it to crank over,if no power, suspect ignition switch,if power, suspect bad starter.is it automatic or manual?
i have tried it but all i have is a small wire checker and when i turn the key over to check the wire the light does no light up. and when i try it with the key off it does the same thing. i have spoken to several mechanics and they all have said that it is probably the ign switch needing replaced because of the way that i have to crank the car up. it is an automatic.
if you just replace the switch(electrical part, has a 5 wire plug on it.its around $50.00)if you need to replace the key cylinder part,it is $225.00.this is if you buy the part/s and install yourself.
