Do I have to go to an actual dealership and is there a approximate cost to have them upgrade the software. I just bought the vehicle in November 2014 with only 26K mileage and I'm surprised to find out that I'm having this type of issue this early on.
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2008 Saturn Aura. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
The car was dropped off a local shop and we were informed that the "PCM" had quite possibly gone out; however, after doing some research on the power control modules, apparently they do not typically "die", but rather need a "software upgrade," if there is such a beast it is best to take it to the dealership - thus the reason for the original question. I have gotten a recall letter and it does say something about the brake mechanism but am wondering if that could be part of the "software upgrade" the article referred to?
