piston replacement on hatchback

What is your question?

The piston went out on the rear hatchback. In orderto repair the problem the headliner needs to be removed. The cost in total is around $800.00., by the dealership. What would be a reasonable estimate on doing this.

The book time which includes headliner assembly is 6 hours plus parts $160 each retail 2 are needed, So $800 is fair

Thanks for the response. I found a mechanic to fix the(struts , pistons)? he is a mechanic for a dealership and repaired it in less than 2 hours and the cost was $400.00. It seems to be working fine.. I think I just got lucky. Thank you

The VW dealer is correct, they need to remove the headliner, which takes 5 hours of labor, add the price of the parts, and the total will be around $800. You might be able to save a little by going to a VW specialist, but unfortunately it won't be much. Zee
