I googled the part its under $20 Goodyear claimed it was $63.74 and comes with wires ( what wires all posts found did not mention) and labor 3.2hours. Someone wrote it take 5 mins. Need a socket wrench 1 5/8 or 1 1/8 someone else wrote. My issue now is where to get this repair done without getting ripped off. Any ideas? Christian Brothers, Pep boys, and Good year screw you over. I know this much.
first.where did you just have the oil changed at,and what brand filter did they use?and it could very well be the filter causing the light to come on,if someone used an old cheap filter without the anti-drainback.has the light ever come on before the oil change?is the engine making any noise?maybe the wires they were talking about was the connector with the wires, female end,but the switch is a 2 male blade switch.what is the part number they gave you?
Oil Synthetic, Goodyear. Filter per receipt NAPA - 27060MP. My son said light would come on when the he idles the car. One of the reasons he got the oil change. We thought it would fix the issue. No engine noises I know of. We do have a transmission issue that it will not shift into gear properly. But we think the oil pressure switch needs to be fixed first. No part number on the switch. 2007 Saturn outlook
well that filter is made by WIX.they do make some good filters, but that one is the cheapest one NAPA sells.the mp means MASTER PACK.that means that (shops)goodyear, firestone, independent shops buy them them by the case.they are $2.49 each,if you walk in NAPA and buy it yourself.so the shops get them cheaper this way,by the case.it does not have the anti-drainback valve in it,and you really don't know what oil goodyear put in your car.you need to change that filter!you need to find you a good local trusted shop to service your car,and forget goodyear, firestone, and the brothers.there is a shop down from me,he charges $10.00 to change anyone's oil,you bring your own oil/filter and watch em change it while you wait.oil pressure switch, part number PS527 with light $37.99 plus tax.
I will go buy another filter and try that tomorrow. If I do need to replace the switch would this shop near you do the work for a reasonable price? What is the name of this shop? Where is it?
LOL! I use to live in NC. Had a great shop I use to go to. Oh well! Thanks for the info. it was helpful. Searching for shop now. Hoping the shops listed on here are reasonable.
yeap.that is the switch.he should check the oil pressure with a gauge.if the pressure is good, then the switch would be next.also i would change the oil filter to maybe a mobil one filter with the anti-drainback valve.part #M1-113=$12.99 plus tax,at the ZONE.
Change it because Goodyear filter sucks? Is the filter hard to get too? I don't want dude to charge me more. Hmmm maybe I should go back to Goodyear make them replace the crap one they put in there! Of course I will provide part. Ha!
it's just a cheap wix filter!they stamp napa on the filter, but wix makes them.i have used the napa gold on my truck that you see in my profile picture, and that is what is on it now.now this is going to sound crazy.this is a 2000 f150 4.6L engine, with 306,000 miles on it.i am running wal-mart super-tech(their brand)full synthetic.i changed the oil in may(last year)2014?i have put only 6000 miles on it since.it has used 3.5 quarts since changed.am i crazy, maybe.fixin to change again soon.don't do this to your car!change when required, and most important, use the correct weight oil it calls for,and a good filter.this very important on the newer engine tolerances.copy and paste this link and watch the video for your car.

You will not believe this....just like the Dentist. The dude gets here and the oil pressure light did not come on at all. We drove it let it run and nothing. LORD! So we decide not to fix what aint broke. Had to pay the guy for coming $50 but its good for 30 days, so if the light decides to come back on, he will come back and change the switch out. Exhausted! But still good news, I guess. Goodyear wanted $400. By doing my homework, I would have spent $140 for part and labor total for mobile mechanic. So glad I did the research. That was close...whewww. I will check out the video however, per GMC dealership, it needs control arm bushings and tie rod ends. So before the 30 days is up I will have him come back and do that at least or check it out. Do you know anything about control arm bushings or tie rod ends? Seems like the car does want to switch gears while driving. it rev's kind of....make sense?
well research paid off,not many do that on here, they would have just taken it to the dealership and came outta there with their head hanging down, with a lot smaller checkbook.control arms, tie rod ends has nothing to do with the transmission shifting.research that problem, and you will most likely find someone who has or is having the same problem.
Yeah its 3 issues + 2 tires. Not really in a big hurry on that. I want my son to contribute to the repair since its his car. Plus I really don't want him to take it to college in August. So not road ready it doesn't go. He won't earn enough in 2 months to handle the repairs. And I won't look like the controlling mom. HA!
