There are a number of oil seals on the car that fail. The rubber used in them turns to stone over time and leaks.

If you oil from the upper half of the engine, the valve cover gaskets are usually to blame. If you have oil in the spark plug holes, that's the valve cover gaskets around the spark plugs... If someone says you have an oil pan gasket leak on the 6cyl model, it's more likely the oil filter housing gasket - google it.
We have an oil leak out of the back side of the engine and is dripping onto the exhaust manifold. Oil level is still where it should be so it's a slow leak.
Not had it fixed - mechanic suggested to wait - not yet dripping on driveway - just burning smell - doesn't use much oil at all yet - just a drip that smells.
Bought the 528i with 97,000 miles and noticed a slight oil butning smell, took to dealer and they estimated like 5k to fix a valve cover gasket. Does not have any engine lights or anything, just have to put oil in ever so often.
Started noticing that after my previous oil changes that my parking spot would be flooded with oil. Went and verified that there is a gasket leak. Contemplating repair or just trade it in and I am tired of paying for minor stuff all around the year.
Oil leak SOMEWHERE? Smells like oil burning. none on garage floor (being caught by plastic pan under engine - for air dynamics)... Goodyear says it is beyond their abilities. Valve cover gasket or oil filter housing gasket... ugh looking for fix.... diagnostics do not say anything.
2000 BMW 5281. Smoke inside passenger compartment. I replaced all coils and spark plugs. #3-4-5 cylinder and the plugs were coated with oil. Plug #4 was caked with slug. Still runs when at stop light otherwise smooth operation. I average 22.4 mpg
One tiny drop on garage floor every's not a constant drip....My fix for now is a towel and keep an eye on it.
something, I dont knwo if its oil or trans fluid is drippin on teh coupler on the exhaust manifold....I know I run synthetic, oil, and its normal to leak some, cause its so thin....I dunno. IM gonan sell it now
