Buy HVAC Blend Door Repair Kit Dorman 902-600 don't have to disassemble dash - this will fix your problem
Low coolant level, water pump impeller worn or slipping on the saft inside of the engine are a couple of things that come to mind!!!!
I changed my water pump thinking that was the problem, it wasn't, but the pump is easy to replace, could also be the thermostat sticking open, going to change that tomorrow, just saw an article about a heat door , going to research this, but it requires taking the entire dash apart
My car has similar issues, but I have notice that my cooling fans will not engage unless I have the A/C engaged. Otherwise, the engine will overheat with the cooling fans off. Changed both relays and that did not solve the issues. My car overheats sometimes at idle or stopped in traffic, over heats a low speed, stays cool at high speeds, unless going up hill. Strangely, if I run at high RPMs going up hill the engine does not overheat as fast or not at all. I am wondering if the 280,000 miles has a lot to do with it. Engine wear causing it to run hotter than normal.
I have a 2006 Pontiac torrent. The heat is not working but the air works when I am driving but now my fan is not coming on to cool the engine off because it runs hot when its stopped for a period of time. Would really appreciate some help. I have codes showing p0030, p0201, p0443, p0481
The only code related to overheating is the PO481 = cooling fan relay / circuit malfunction.. â–ªï¸ https://www.engine-codes.com/ â–ªï¸ Just for the record - the HVAC system “blend door†has absolutely nothing to do with engine overheating!!
Thinking it may be the water pump, heater core was flushed out and seemed to help a bit.car has great heat when moving, but disappears quickly when stopping at a red light etc, Update. Car was at garage, but mechanic stubbornly refused to replace pump, even though I bought a new pump to install.after he checked everything else, even checked visual of pump, decided to change pump as last resort. ...all fixed...old pump was failing,obviously...
I too am having the same exact problem. I have replaced the thermostat twice, water pump, radiator. I've went thru about 10 gallons of antifreeze in the process. I've purged and purged some more to make sure the system had no air. I am at my wits end. I have little to no heat at low rpm, but it will heat up when the rpm's increase. Occaisionally this will not work though and at that time the engine has a tendency to overheat. Please let me know if you find a solution.
Jimm123, glad to hear you got it fixed! sammymarsee, have a combustion leak test performed!! Possible head gasket problem.
