have replaced the distributor, igniter,& crankshaft position sensor. The coil will fire once when you release the key after turning the engine over.

Test ignition coil primary circuit (+) for battery voltage with key on and then while helper cranks engine. Post results.
So I had this exact same issue. Rough idle at first and issues with the engine turning over for a few days and eventually crank but no start. I tested pretty much everything from removing the fuel filter to see if I was getting gas. To spark on plugs. I found I wasn't getting spark. I replaced the ignition coil, the distributor, the plugs, plug wires. I tested the old and new coil and new distributor with a ohmeter beforing and after replacing it and tests came back fine. Last I replaced the crankshaft position sensor. I bought a cheapy online. I finally gave in and took it to a mechanic. Guess what...my computer somewhere along the line was in safe mode. Luckily since it was a 96 the mechanics diagnostic tool allowed for him to remove it from safe mode. Plus I was told the cheapy crank sensor I bought was faulty.
There is 12volts at the coil with key on & while cranking.
That eliminates switch.... New complete distributor?... Used?.. Reman??... Distributor is rotating when cranking I guess?? One more test to do but need to know this other info. first.
All parts are new & the rotor is turning. As I said before it will fire one time as you release the key after turning the engine over.
Turn key on, does check engine light come on?... Have you tried to get computer codes??
Yes the check engine light is on with the key on. I haven't checked for codes.
You should try to test for codes... Check all fuses and go back over your work so far.
I checked for codes none found, checked all fuses all were good. Replaced all the parts again. still no fire. I have also check the wires with an ohm meter to make sure I had no broken wires.
It has got to be: Crankshaft Sensor $ 88.20 /ea Part Number: CSS951 Product Line: NAPA Echlin Ignition Parts Most likely find one cheaper but quality not as good! It's located behind crank pulley and lower timing belt cover, firewall side of engine.
There has been 2 new crankshaft sensors tried. One from NAPA the other from Toyota.
Only thing to do at this point is get a NO SPARK troubleshooting flow chart and start testing!.. Haynes manual.. wwwalldatadiy.com .. etc... I'm out of ammo. .. Possible ECM issue but need the flow chart for testing. Happy holidays!!
