Need to take out ignition cylinder but the key won't turn to ACC to release the cylinder.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Key won't turn when it's in the ignition.
How long has your 1996 Toyota Avalon had this problem?

Sounds like a tumbler issue. This may need a new ignition lock cylinder. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
Be CERTAIN correct key is being used! Spray WD-40 into key slot - insert key - rap key sharply with small hammer a few times - be sure to hit key squarely and straight into key slot .. Try turning key - repeat if necessary.. It works!
FORCEFULLY rocking steering wheel left / right while turning key may release lock cylinder and allow key to turn.. Locksmith is always an option. Good luck!
