Need to know how to adjust rear liftgate lock cable.

Install is correct. Cable just has some play. I have added a fishing split shot to the cable and things work perfectly. I just need a way to adjust the cable tension. I am afraid my fix may eventually let go.

Get a # 10 or 12 machine nut lock it in a vice and split one side of it with a hacksaw so it will slip over the cable then close the split. This steel nut will stay there where the lead split shot will not! Use two if needed. Don't think the cable itself is adjustable. It works! .....Comprende?
