My temperature gauge went to hot and steam came from under hood. Coolant dumped.

It was obvious that a hose or something had burst. I had it towed to a local dealership that I had never used. They called me later and said that the expansion chamber had burst and they had replaced it. That seems to be too simple a solution for a vehicle like this to suddenly get that hot. Are their other things that could have also malfunction to cause this. I am on the road a lot and don't want to be in the middle of nowhere and get stuck.
