Radiator cooling fans aren't working... While driving, 'ram air' takes over but while stopped the fans have got to go to work .. They ain't doing their job!
I Have a 2003 Saturn Ion and I am having the same trouble. The man who answered your question is 100% right. I let my car get hot just alittle, just enough to know if the fan was working or not. It was not. I reached down to where the wire connects to the fan motor and moved it around good and the fan cut on. So I know the fan motor works and that I have a loose connection. This could mean the socket on the motor is bad, or the socket on the wiring is bad or the wiring it self has a bad place in it. The temp. out side has been close to 100 and I don't have any shade. I want to tell you it is not good for just anyone to go sticking there hands any place near the fan motor or close to a hot car motor if you don't know what you are doing. I can not stress this point hard enough!! If you have a friend that knows about car repairs it would be best to have a look for you now that you know what to look for. Hope this is helpful. another thing could be the control module. You can look at parts for your car at a lot of auto shop and you can get a lot of different cost of parts. It pays to compare stores. I hope this helps.
Thsnk you!! I promise I won't be doing it by myself. I am going to my local City Garage to get it worked on. Thanks for all your help guys!!
Thank you so much!! That's what I was thinking! Is it costly to repair?
No, it's usually not expensive... Possible failed fuse, relay, temperature sensor, fan motor.
Yay! Thanks so much!
