KEY ON... Tap transfer case shift motor lightly with small hammer or tool to see if it will shift then... Best done while helper pushes button.
"Start engine with the shift lever in park, Operate the selector switch to the correct position, then after selector switch has been placed in correct position, slowly back in reverse for about fifty feet. You should feel the shift when it occurs. Occasionally, you may have to do this several times. If it does not shift correctly, place back in park, turn engine off, climb under vehicle and make sure there are no foreign objects blocking any levers or paths. (might want to spray a little WD40 on everything while beneath there. Then, try sequence again. Sometimes You simply must be a bit more stubborn than the problem is!
This question was posted 9 months ago!.. Furthermore, there are no levers on this transfer case .. The most common problem is the armature is stuck in the encoder or shift motor, especially since the shift control module can be heard clicking as stated in the question, that means a signal IS being sent to the motor and the best test is to lightly tap the shift motor with a hammer to force it to shift.. Have done it more times than I can count.. I have a very expensive scanner with live data so the shift sequence can be viewed to determine what the system is doing...and 9 times out of 10.. It's simply a stuck encoder (shift) motor!
