Was quoted 280$ for new ignition switch. Bought an OE switch and key from parts store. Car won't start. Was told the key needed to be relearned?

Can't relearn this new key....it has to be done using the 'original key' to program .. but now the original don't fit your new lock cylinder!...Take the original key and this new key to locksmith and he can make one that works... Get at least two made!!
