I was told the computer in my outlander needed replaced because the wipers and the cigarette lighter both quit working.

did you check fuse or fuses for these?if so how did you check?
Fuses were checked supposedly by the mechanic at the garage, but I was just confused because it seemed to me if the computer was bad , why were those two things the only things that quit working?
no suprise,people will tell you anything,unless you can find trusted shop.look in your owners manual and find fuse location for the 2 things that are not working.if no owners manual,locate fuse box,maybe 2 of them,and on underside of lid when you open,it should tell you where to look.pull fuse or fuses and look at them and see if wire inside the fuse is broken or burned.or check with volt meter.post findings.
