Why were you told this? Do you have oil mixing with your coolent? do you have oil leaking around the front of your engine or coolent getting into the oil? We can't really tell you here, without a little more information or being there, to look at the engine. If you have clean oil, coolent and not having to add any of these fluids. No leaks that you can see i would use your common sense and get a second opinion before doing this work.
FIRST ...I agree with torque wrench , get a second opinion.Second , just because you don't have stains on your driveway doesn't mean no leak. Some leaks are under pressure/speed conditions that will allow the leaking item(s) to blow off the undercarriage while driving at highway speeds . look under the front of your truck and see if there is any kind of residue trail leading backwards if so , look up at the crank pulley and above for residue trails from there. then when the next monkey tells you what the first monkey said ...ask him/her to show you....AND I'M A MONKEY TOO! happy trails ...........,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.............,,,,,,,,,,,,.........., /////////(update to opinion on6/28)///// BY THE WAY... you stated 2.5 4cyl. engine, correct??..If so that has a timing belt not chain as stated----The 4.0L V6 has a chain set-up ..in fact , multiple chains are used. Isn't this fun?.
