I have a quote for $3500 for an engine swap. ~100000mile engine. Includes clutch, engine, new timing and water pump and all labor. High/ low/ average cost? Thanks!!

I just asked the mechanic to price that up this morning, as well as a tuneup kit (figure that shouldn't be more than $75-100 while it's out) I had the same thought. I'll let you know. Edit: he just called back and quoted an extra $500 to do head gaskets. That was head gaskets, valve cover gaskets etc ( full kit), bolts and added labor. So we'd be looking at $4000 with new head gaskets, new clutch, new timing belt and water pump. All in.
