I changed the thermostat but my heating system is blowing out cold air.

first you must find and fix the source of coolant loss. You will NOT get heat from air in the system! Have it TESTED for a blown head gasket , if needed , just to rule it out , save a lot of wasted time chasing the wrong cause.
