I am replacing both cv axels and seals. there are roller bearing where the cv shaft connects to the transfer case on the transmission. to make sure the bearing where ok I placed the cv shaft in with out the seal and turn the cv shaft only the shaft turns inside the race and the bearing does not turn. the other shaft does the same. how do I replace the bearings ?

I'm pretty sure you mean differential. Any of the internal transmission or differential bearings on the inside where the axle shafts go into must be serviced by transmission and differential disassembly. This is not a "do it yourself" job.
Stick your finger inside and roll the bearing - I think you’ll find it turns rather nicely! You can’t observe the bearing rotating - the whole assembly does not turn - only the rollers that contact the axle shaft is what counts.. Additionally - IF the bearing has failed - there would be very obvious damage to the original inner axle shaft as well.. Good luck
Not to mention the very loud grinding noise that ‘would have’ certainly accompanied the failed bearings while vehicle was being driven.. I suspect you may be just a little bit paranoid here.. Put some lube on the inner rubber seal lip and the axle shaft before installing. Happy motoring.
