I have a 2004 Ford F150 with a Triton 5.4 3v motor. It needs to be rebuilt or replaced, I am trying to find out how many hours are realistic for a shop to charge for a complete removal and reinstall of the new motor.
How long has your 2004 Ford F-150 had this problem?
just bought and came with the truck

It pays 16.1 hours to remove and replace the engine. This does not include any kind of rebuild just swapping in a new or used engine. This is provided you have a 4wd truck. It would be less if 2wd. Alex
Too many possible scenarios for that kind of repair .. Hands-on inspection / evaluation of the vehicle will be needed before estimates can be given.
Thank you. It is just the 2wd Ford. The shop that has diagnosed the engine issue quoted 30 hours to to remove and replace the motor, which seemed pretty extreme. I was just looking for an more reasonable quote. My regular mechanic has quoted 8 hours for the whole job, which is obviously thousands less than the first quote.
