key won't go back into ignition lock cylinder how do you get lock cylinder out without ruining steering colum

no spare key?why won't the key go back in the cylinder?have you tried graphite?THERE IS A HOLE IN THE TOP COVER TO RELEASE THE CYLINDER,BUT THE CYLINDER HAS TO BE TURNED TO THE ON POSITION TO RELEASE IT.now,the big question,HANDS PRETTY STEADY WITH A DRILL MOTOR??
