when the check engine light comes on,what is the code?also, have you looked under the hood for any sign of anything
that don't look right or sound right, when the cel comes on?maybe a vacuum leak?if possible i would check the simple things first, before taking to a repair shop.if/when you take to repair shop, try and find a trusted, independent, maybe family owned shop.check with your friends,co-workers,kin folk, etc. see where they go.
some off the wall shop sees you driving up in big ole nice HUMMER,their mouth will start watering, and your check book gets smaller!
it does happen, not everywhere, but it does.talk to your friends like i said, just maybe someone will see or find what is wrong, and you won't have to go to a repair shop.good luck with it.misfire on #2,means that cylinder number 2 is showing a misfire, and could be a bad spark plug,a bad coil,or several other things.
Hi so I took to my local mechanics, tgey changed bad spark plug, coil, injector and engine light is off for now but still showing misfire? Had me pick it up and drive it for a few days to see if goes back on, does this sound right? They said might be engine if this wasn't the problem, so in suspense on the problem still? Any other advise? If I drive it how is that going to prove what is wrong or if was the injectors? They said has smoke n maybe will clear out, confused?
no,that don't sound right!how does it still show a misfire if the check engine light is off?and they said it may be the engine?like replacing the engine???and what/where is smoke?i'm confused now!!
when they did compression test did show smoke/air leaking, after they changed coil, then one spark plug was burnt so replaced it, then they said will chane injector which they did yesterday but they want me to drive it around to see if engine light comes back on? They keep saying if it does its engine issue but my car isn't that old, keep up the maintenance so confused on how that is possible? They said it still misfires but not sure how they know that with engine light off for now? Any ideas on what else they should be checking? Greatly appreciate it, I don't want to be driving my H if I am messing it up more or is that not possible? So drove to work just now engine light back on
i really don't know what to tell you now.there are test they could do,and they may have.when they put the new plug in,they could have checked for spark at that plug.if no spark, then the coil was bad.then they could have checked for injector pulse,if no pulse, yes change the injector.they should have told you if the compression was good or bad when they checked it.do you know these people?right now, depending on what you said they replaced,it is a little over $100.00 plus compression check and labor to r&r parts.but i know these shops jack up the price on the parts.no one you know can help you?
Unfortunately I have no mechanic friends, The screws down inside are loose and the truck lost pressure, if they go into valves or check springs not worth all the labor costs so they said better off changing new engine, also found fuel/carbon while checking everything, called Hummer of course want me to take to them and spend who knows how much to diagnose same thing. Unbelievable I bought a lemon, under 1000 miles and need a new engine is crazy
No but I had to replace my Radiator like 6 mos ago due to crack and leak?
any coolant or water get down around the cop's,ignition coils?
not sure? Any shops aroundvTemple City, CA I can take it to that works on Hummers?
