What is your question?
In the last few months when setting my alarm the horn sounds like it’s muffled/dying or doesn’t even honk. I replaced the car battery (was original) and thought that might be the reason, but it’s back to randomly doing it. I’ve also never changed the batteries in the remotes, so don’t know if it’s linked to that. I tried both keys (the spare I never use and the one I have on hand) both had the same results. My car still locks though even when the horn doesn’t sound, so the remotes still work in that way. I’m also not hitting any other button on the remote when I hit the lock button, I’m just hitting the lock button twice.
How long has your 2012 Chevrolet Equinox had this problem?
A few months

I’ve honked the horn for short and a long burst and it sounds like it should. I got out and locked it and the horn sounded muffled again.
Don’t suspect any significant issues as long as you can hear the alert - that is a very short report from the horn - it naturally isn’t going to be as loud.. IF a problem with the horn or it’s circuit exists then it will be the same no matter what actuated it - - the remote does the exact thing as depressing the horn button but the horn only sounds for a split second from the remote - try PANIC MODE with the remote - I think you will find the horn to be louder as the report will be for a longer duration. Good luck!
Thanks! Though sometimes the horn doesn’t sound at all when I use the remote to lock it, though the locks do engage.
