front suspension rattles when i drive over bumps or rough roads

struts seem to be ok ,steering wheel does not move in hand ,as if something is loose when i hit a bump

i had a gm garage check it out, they said struts need changed.the year before i had tires put at same garage, they said that every thing looked good . this rattle was there ayear before tires put on . someone at garage that doesnot work there any more, said something about a gasket is bad , its a cheap part , but hard to get to. do you know anything about that fix.
