Failure of evap charcoal canister

(2005 Chevrolet Tahoe)
Could not fill the gas tank in my 2005 Tahoe, so dealer said I would have to flush fuel tank, replace all fuel lines and fuel pump, and replace the evap charcoal canister because the canister had allowed charcoal into the fuel system. How could this happen? The Tahoe was running fine at the time I couldn't put gas in the tank.
What seems to make the problem better or worse? Can't put gas in the tank
How long have you had this problem? Just started

Have local independent auto repair facility go ahead and replace the *canister vent valve solenoid* so the tank will accept fuel when attempting to refuel..

Easy diy repair if you’re a bit handy!

This is an inexpensive part and will only take a few minutes to replace it.

Good luck

It would sound possible that overfilling your fuel tank could cause fuel to enter the canister and contaminate it. I don't know the purpose of all the other concerns unless there is a drivability and fuel pressure concern related.
