What is your question?
I have a 2002 Buick Century Limited edition and the gas gage has been going crazy. If I sit for a minute on a hill it reads no gas and then the dinging goes off to tell me that I have no gas....But if I fill it all the way up its fine....Until it gets to about 3/4 of a tank then that's when it goes crazy....I never really know how much gas I have do to this....Please help....Its been doing this for a while now....Thank you.....Jennifer

the fuel sender/float/switch has gone bad inside the fuel tank, and is attached to the fuel pump module assembly.on most newer vehicles you have to replace the whole module unit to correct this.but,on your car,the fuel level sensor/sender can just be replaced verses replacing the entire unit.either way you go,the entire assembly must be removed from the fuel tank to do this. Dorman/Sensor - Fuel Level, Part Number: 911-008 Price: $35.99 plus tax. Warranty: 1 YR or the fuel pump module assembly is below. AC Delco/Fuel Pump Price: $284.99 Part Number: MU1743 Warranty: 1 YR Notes: Module assembly Strainer included. GM original equipment
So its not a must fix thing unless I really want to know how much gas I have then. Right?
that is correct.the pump is working, cause you are still driving it.what you could do is:go fill it up,reset the odometer trip button to (0)if you get 400 miles to a tank of fuel, when you put,say 300 miles on it,go fill it up again, reset trip button to (0).just remember to get gas by the miles you put on it.
Awesome! Thank you!
your welcome.i have seen people do this and nothing wrong with doing it,all that float is for is letting you know how much fuel is in the tank.just pay attention to your miles and don't forget to reset it when you get more gas. some can't afford to replace the whole unit or just the float for that matter.like i said either way the fuel tank has to be dropped to do either, and the assembly has to come out either way.so that could get costly, depending on who does it and where the parts are bought.good luck.
