occasionally, it wants to stall unless more pressure is applied to the accelerator (sounds like the exhaust is getting louder as a result) The check engine light stays on and will begin to flash if going up hill. The vehicle is going through fuel at a very fast pace

Time for a good tune up! Engine has a misfire, indicative of the flashing cel... A good scan test is a must to help find the actual problems before just throwing on some parts... You should consider having this done soon, as a severe misfire can damage the catalytic converter!
your car needs a tune up and i would replace fuel filter also, should help. first go by autozone and they will ck. the ck, engine light free, that will give u some of the problems, and if u are using fuel like that u may have a leak smeel for fuel next time u walk to your car and look on the ground also,sounds like a fuel problem. first thing get eng, light ck, at autozone.
