don't know...NO engine size listed in question, there are four different sizes of engines for that year.2.5L>>3.0L>>4.0L,and ELECTRIC. call local, trusted, independent, repair shops for quotes. be sure and tell them engine size and if it's 2WD,or 4 WD also.

So sorry, the engine I need replacing and installing is a 1999 Ford Ranger. 2w, gas,3.0l flex fuel 6. The 8digit in vin is a v. I don't know what flex fuel is or 3.01 for that matter. Retired with cancer and gouged before locally, that's why I'm asking. Thanks

it's going to vary from shop to shop. i assume you're getting a used engine from a scrap yard..best to find you a good, trusted, independent repair shop with little overhead and stick with them..i know you have some in your city.ask you friends, neighbors, family, etc, who they go to.your truck is worth around $2000.00 in GOOD condition..54% of all vehicles fall into that category,so keep that in mind.

Estimate would be $3400.00 plus tax for installation of a used engine.
