Door ajar warningvlight stays on. Battery disconnected

The only electrical power source the vehicle has with the engine turned off is the 12 volt battery. If it is truly disconnected and you have a warning light still on -- I simply have no suggestion. It would see to be a physical impossibility to have electrical function without a power source. (imagine turning your phone on without a battery...just doesn't happen...)
