It is a very strong possibility the ‘horn pad’ itself is the culprit here.. Hot ambient temperatures will make ‘deteriorating’ horn pad symptoms more pronounced. One of the telltale symptoms is horn sounding erratically without any known reason. Usually the actual alarm will also flash headlights when it has been activated. **Hands-on** testing will be required - in the interim - removing the horn fuse should help. This problem should be repaired ASAP! Good luck!
Alternatively to Pushrod's advice, your vehicle has a factory equipped anti-theft system that utilizes the vehicle's horn to indicate that a door has been opened without a key. It is possible one of the door switches have failed, indicating that the door is open erratically when it is actually closed. If you think about it, if the door suddenly shows as "open" while closed and locked, and no key or remote was used to disable this, then the control module thinks the vehicle was accessed inappropriately, setting off the horn. A diagnostic tool that can monitor body component data will show the position of door switches as open or closed and can be monitored to diagnose this concern.
Since the horn doesn’t work properly by pressing on the horn pad manually - this also tends to point towards a failing HORN PAD instead if an alarm system related malfunction. IF horn fuse is removed - make certain the BRAKE LIGHTS are still operational. IF not - re-install the fuse!
