What is your question?
The problem occurs every time the car is shut off. The battery must be disconnected or it drains it dead. The dome light don't work and you can't open the moonroof. I could at one time lock the steering wheel, it won't lock now. I did smell plastic. At first, the dash lights would go off occasionally. Since the plastic smell, they stay on all the time unless you disconnect the battery. The fan stays on for a minute and the motor goes off. There are no noises or leaks. I overcharged my battery recently and replaced it with a new battery. The battery I had was bad anyway
What makes this problem better or worse?
Once you start the car, all the lights go off
How long has your 1994 Toyota Camry had this problem?
Since Fall 2017
Yes. Headlights, windows wipers, turn signals and auto windows will go down. Not sure about the radio
The ignition ‘switch’ has failed! ...
Also, replaced the fuel pump and I have a helper push down on the top of the pump and it will start. After letting it sit for awhile and then will crank but won't start. Does the ignition switch have something to do with this or is it the connector to the pump?
The engine must be rotating (cranking) before the fuel pump will turn on - it doesn’t turn on with the key like many other vehicles - therefore I do not think having to push on top of the fuel pump is related to the ignition ‘switch’ issue.
Highly recommend having qualified personnel perform *hands-on* testing.
Thank you
