IF you have looked and don't see 'any sign' of antifreeze/coolant leak where vehicle is normally parked overnight... Engine 'may be' consuming coolant .. Suggest combustion leak test... Also make sure engine oil level is NOT overfull or oil discolored! > (milky looking color)
thank for the info did the leak down and it was ok/and oil is ok too. let me run this buy I read up and they where talking about the water pump having issues with the impeller detrition and slipping on the shaft what do you think thanks o keep in mind this has 180,000 miles on it
That would explain engine running hot but not the disappearing coolant! .. Even if it were getting hot enough to overflow you should still see some evidence of that... Anytime coolant is being lost it is either leaking out or the engine is consuming it ! .. Had a Silverado pickup at the shop for 4 days with mystery coolant loss, did the usual pressure test, let engine idle for extended period, test drove etc.. Nary a leak to be found or any sign of a leak before hand!.. Left it in the shop one night, next morning antifreeze all up under the front of truck .. Water pump just decided to leak out of the weep hole in bottom of pump .. This is just how things can happen, not suggesting parts replacement! .. At this point about all I can do is wish you good luck with it! .. Anytime vehicle is parked, check for coolant 'anywhere' underneath before leaving that spot, may be in the rear heater *system* (if equipped)...... Good luck with it!
well thank u for your input I'm going to pull pump not a big job and as they say nothing ventured nothing gained thks cardman
